Week 4

MESSAGE FROM MS.STAROSTECKI Phew...what an exciting week in 1C! We had a Fall Walk, Picture Day, fire drill, Orange Shirt Day AND the Terry Fox Walk. I just want send out a huge thanks to all of the parents and volunteers for their help this week, I couldn't have done it without you! On another note, you should be very proud of your first grader. They followed the expectations, they were respectful and pushed through long walks even though they may have been tired. Way to go Grade 1, Ms. Starostecki is blown away by your awesomeness! REMINDERS HOME READING will begin on Monday. I will be sending home a book in a Red folder. There will be some information and a log book inside the R.E.D. (Read Every Day) folder. These books will be signed out under my name so please try not to lose them 🙂. The books will be exchanged every Thursday. You may also read books from home, just make sure you log it! REMINDERS PICTURE DAY is on Wednesday, September 27th . I can't wait to see 1C looking their best! SCHOLASTIC BOOK ORDER  due Thursday September 28th . INDOOR SHOES   If your child has difficulty tying their shoes independently, please purchase the bungy laces or lock-up laces for their inside shoes. It will really save some time getting ready during certain transitions and ensures their safety during gym class. LIBRARY  1C has library every Monday. Please make sure your child brings back their library book so they can exchange for a new one! AGENDAS  I encourage parents to look at their child's agendas and mail bags daily. I also check their agendas daily so feel free to use them as a form of communication. SNACKS & BIRTHDAYS  In an effort to provide students with the healthiest environment I can, I am encouraging you to provide healthy snacks for school snacks and celebrations (i.e. birthdays). A Message from Ms. Starostecki... The Grade 1's  will be going on their very first Seasonal Walk (for Fall!) on September 22 . The walk will begin at 1pm and we will be back at the school at around 3pm. We will be walking from Robina Baker School east through Ontario Cres. to John Maland High. We will head north past Centennial Park until we reach the river valley where we will dip into the trail system and head west. We will stop at the park on River Dr. before heading back to the school. For this walk, I would love to have some volunteers . I will be needing 3 volunteers. Please contact me as soon as possible if you would like to join us for our Seasonal Fall Walk as it will be first come first serve basis. Thank you in advance!
