Reminders Please remember to fill out the reading log EACH TIME you read a book with your child. Our classroom's goal is reading 5 books per week. Each time they read 5 books in a week I will put their name in for the draw for 2 tickets to Laser City. **Please bring back R.E.D. folders every Monday so that your child can get their home reading book exchanged. Congratulations to Hudson for winning two tickets to Laser City in the first draw of the year! October 31 - Halloween Parade begins at 9am in the Gym November 1 - NO SCHOOL Congratulations to our Student of the Week! Language Arts This week, our class continued to expand on the story of   Big Pumpkin  by Erica Silverman. It is about a witch that has grown the biggest pumpkin ever. She wants to make herself a pumpkin pie but the pumpkin is too big for her to get it off the v ine.  It is so big that her a ghost, vampire, mummy can't help her move it, until a bat comes up with an idea to get the pumpkin off

Reminders SOCKTOBER: Robina Baker Elementary School is collecting socks for Youth Empowerment Support Services. The socks need to be brand new (no used ones). Thank you, in advance, for your participation. Field Trip October 25, You can pay online via Powerschool. R.E.D. Other: Grade 1C will be able to check out the Book Fair on Monday, October 24th at 12:45-1:15pm. Alberta Art Gallery Field Trip is on Tuesday, October 25th. The cost of the field trip is $19. The days are getting colder and some of the students are coming in after recess stating that they were very cold. Suggested items: jacket, hat, snowpants/splash pants, mittens/gloves. This week, Grade 1C had their first experience with Chromebooks! After a lot of patience and review of the many rules and procedures, they started to get a bit more comfortable using a Chromebook. They learned how to long on (with their username and password), locate the letters, and how to change a lowercase letter into an uppercase letter. They will continue to use Chromebooks throughout the year across various subjects. Congrats to our Student of the Week, keep up the great work!    Language Arts The students of 1C continue to search for the Red Rainbow Words (a, at, all, and, are) in the books they were reading for Read to Self and/or in their interest books. I encourage for you to practice Rainbow Words with your child to increase their exposure and improve their word recognition. I will be informally assessing each student at the end of each week to see if they are able to read and recognize their Rainbow Words. Next week's Red Rainbow Words are: but, can, for, have,
