As he begins to outgrow his shell, he's scared, but finds friends along the way that make him feel better and help him decorate his new marine environment.

WRITING AND READING 1C wrote sensory poems about the season of summer and shared their poems with the rest of the class.

The wrote an acrostic poem about their fathers for Father's Day. They were so lovely and thought out. I loved reading them!

MATH

1C learned about the term length and mass. They measured things around the room using different objects such as paper clips and linking cubes. They also learned how to measure length around something such as an arm with string and paper clips.

 Time to measure the TEACHER!

In our expolaration of mass. The students measure and estimated various sclassroom objects using scales. They used estimation when trying to see how many linking cubes it would take to match the same weight as an object such as a stapler. They determined items that were lighter and heavier.

Next week, we will be working with area and capacity.

SCIENCE

This week we learned about three out six types of animals: amphibians, reptiles and mammals. The students created a frog using guided drawing, designed a snake using oil pastels and coloured a fox. Next week, we will finish up with insects, birds, and fish. Awesome work 1C!
